Targeted Research

Research carried out for individual companies

Targeted research projects are carried out for individual companies and the results are exclusively licensed to those companies. In return for proprietary access to the research results generated, the companies are asked to contribute to a portion of the overall research costs, these costs may be funded through either an Innovation Partnership or through an Innovation Voucher.

The Innovation Partnership Program (IPP) encourages Irish-based companies to work with research institutes for mutual benefit, cooperation and interaction. Companies can access expertise and resources to develop new and improved products, processes, services, and generate new knowledge and know-how. Funding for IPPs is available from Enterprise Ireland and they will fund up to 80% of the research costs, more details of the scheme and details on how to apply can be found on the Enterprise Ireland Website.

An Innovation Voucher (IV) will allow a company to explore a business opportunity or problem with a registered knowledge provider such as The Irish Centre for Cloud Computing and Commerce (IC4). An IV is a voucher for €5000 which can be spent on research in areas such as new product and service development or research and technology audits. IVs can be provided to companies registered in Ireland by Enterprise Ireland during one of their open calls, full details of this scheme are available from Enterprise Ireland.

To see examples of targeted research projects IC4 has completed in the past, see our case studies or if you wish to discuss this further you can contact us at one of our research institutions.

‘’The project with IC4 had a direct positive impact on Herdwatch. To date, many of the recommendations from the research have been implemented with the remaining recommendations being implemented over the next 6-12 months... The longer term effect of this research will be seen in the next generation of the Herdwatch app which is currently in development and encompasses several user experience recommendations from the IC4 research.’’

“Working with IC4 not only delivered on our primary project goals but we’ve also been able to add new functionality that did not exist previously such as the file upload feature. This CloudTrax program as a SaaS offering means we can now service customers on an international basis without the need for on-site installations.”
